Our agreements allow for a cooperative effort in creating beneficial, local employment prospects, skills training, and revenue sharing. We take an active leadership role in partnering with communities to expand their employment, training, capacity building, and economic development opportunities. Here is how we are stronger together:
Joint Ventures:
In 2020, we finalized joint ventures with a First Nations majority-owned company through the creation of Gitga'at Matrix Workforce Services. We look forward to continuing our commitment to fair and informed collaboration with Indigenous peoples and expanding our activities in a socially responsible manner.
In 2023, we finalized our joint venture with the Haisla First Nations. This joint venture is a First Nations majority-owned company in collaboration between Matrix and Hailsa First Nations called The Matrix Kitimaat Joint Venture Limited Partnership.
Profit Sharing: A percentage of all profits generated through projects completed in partnership with First Nations communities are returned to that nation.
Training and Development: We collaborate with First Nations and vendor partners to design and deliver skills training and development to build a local labour workforce.
Engagement: Matrix hosts a webinar connecting companies and Indigenous partners to explore the value of engaging with First Nations communities and to understand the importance of learning about and understanding Indigenous culture. This collaboration results in the cultivation of mutually beneficial relationships.
