The Government of Alberta’s annual short term forecast has shown there to be a demand for construction labour in 2016. The report studies 260 occupations and sorts them into categories of high, moderately high, medium and low demand. The forecast looks good for those looking for work in the construction industry as many jobs in the sector were placed high in the rankings.
The following occupations were listed as high in demand or moderately high demand for the years 2014-2016:
This is the fourth year in a row that the Government of Alberta has released a short term employment forecast and, as in previous years, the report does not list labour shortages but instead examines occupations that are expected to be in demand. These forecasts are a great way for the Albertan government to let its workers know what’s expected to happen in the economy between the Government’s long term 10 year forecasts.
